   A sedimentary rock (evaporite) composed chiefly of mineral anhydrite (anhydrous CaSO4);
   The rock is generally massive, cryptocrystalline, and may exhibit rhythmic sedimentation (rhymites).
   Compare: rock gypsum, rock halite.
