rockfall
   The mass movement process, associated sediments (rockfall deposit), or resultant landform characterized by a very rapid type of fall dominated by downslope movement of detached rock bodies which fall freely through the air or by leaps and bounds (lacks an underlying slip face); also spelled rock fall.
   Compare: debris fall, soil fall, landslide.
